DIY Support

Increasingly New Zealanders are opting to arrange funerals without engaging a funeral director. Many find that this is a more natural way to plan the last goodbye for their loved one, but may be caught short when it comes to the practical elements of handling a dead body or navigating bureaucracy.

As an independent undertaker and qualified funeral director I hope to help families where I can and am more than open to offering specific assistance when required.

For those investigating the option of doing it yourself I would recommend visiting www.diyfuneral.co.nz for more information.

Transportation

Transporting your loved one can be one of the biggest hurdles you will come across when doing it yourself. You will need a vehicle large enough to accommodate a casket and a method of securing the deceased while in transit.

I can assist you with transporting a casketed or un-casketed body within the Wellington region and can offer advice of where to purchase a casket.

Embalming

In my experience as an independent funeral director, there have been very few instances where embalming has been necessary. It's important to understand that "embalming" encompasses a range of procedures and you don't need to perform all of them.

I can help connect you to professional embalmers and suitable facilities. After discussing your specific needs and circumstances, I can provide you with a detailed quote to ensure you receive the best service for your situation.
